Mr. Ramaraj Rajasekhar is an independent director on the Board. He was the co-founder and until recently the chief executive officer of Sify Limited. He pursued his Bachelors in Technology in Chemical Engineering from the University of Madras and obtained a Masters degree in Business Administration from the IIM, Calcutta. He began his career in sales and marketing and went on to establish Computer Point in 1984. He was also founder director of Microland Limited and was the director of Sterling Cellular till 1996. He was recognized as the ‘Evangelist of the Year’ at the India Internet World Convention in September 2000. He was also voted the IT Person of the Year by CNET.com poll in India.
He was invited by the then United Nations Secretary-General, Kofi Annan to be a member of United Nation’s Working Group on Internet Governance. Currently he is associated on a part time basis as a venture partner/mentor to Sequoia Capital and is a member of the global board of trustees of TiE (The Indus Entrepreneurs). He was also the first Indian to be invited to the Board of directors of Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers.
